At Wessex Aerial Photography we are committed to exploring and acquiring the right technology for our clients’ needs, whatever they may be.
Our current aerial filming drones are the DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus. These drones include all the features of the original Phantom 2 Vision but with the added bonus of a three axis gimbal for the camera. This allows the creation of much smoother videos as the gimbal keeps the camera steady while the quadcopter itself moves in flight and compensates for any wind.
As the quadcopter tilts in any direction the three axis gimbal keeps the camera level. This enables tracking of a feature or object while the software in the Phantom uses GPS, it’ compass, and the IMU to keep it in position and on track. The Vision Plus has become one of DJI’s best sellers thanks to the combination of features, such as Home Lock, Failsafe, and Ground Station.
However, these drones are not toys and a certain amount of practice is required to master the basics and to fly them safely and legally. Apart from developing the the skills required to fly such multirotor craft safely and within their operational limits it is also imperative that owners and operators are aware of the rules and regulations concerning flying UAV, both in the UK and abroad. We at Wessex Aerial Photography have undergone the required training, we maintain our skills through practice, and we keep abreast of both legal and technological changes and developments within the industry.
