Building inspection? We know that Wessex Aerial Photography’s drones can shoot some cool aesthetic video and stills but there are other, rather more prosaic applications as well. For example everyone’s buildings have roofs but they are not always very easy to see. A Wessex drone can be up above your roof in minutes to record video and still images in HD and multi-megapixels. If you are concerned about damage, contamination or dilapidation an aerial inspection can quickly tell what is really happening above your head. No cherry-pickers, no ladders, no duck-boards needed for this easy solution.
Watch this short roof inspection video . In this case the client was pretty sure that the roof structure was beyond economical repair but how to prove that? It was far too dangerous to send anyone up there on ladders and crawling boards and there wasn’t anywhere convenient to park a cherry-picker. The Wessex drone was up there in seconds and the client was able to talk the pilot onto the places he really wanted to see, watching the real time images from the camera on an iPad. His fears were confirmed (as you can see) and he was able to proceed accordingly.
As with all drone operations there are limitations to what can be done. If a building is in a heavily built up area or situated within aeronautical controlled airspace there will be special provisions for how and when to operate. Filming is also constrained to some extent by privacy laws. Wessex Aerial Photography’s pilots are qualified by the UK CAA and understand the safety and regulatory factors – they will explain these to you as necessary.
